Monaco resident Tom Mattoni wins world skydiving title

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Tom Mattoni, a Monaco resident licensed with the Monaco Parachute Team, won gold in 4-way formation skydiving at the world championships in the United States.

Tom Mattoni, who lives in Monaco and holds his licence with the Monaco Parachute Team, has become world champion in the 4-way formation open category at a recent skydiving championship held in the United States.

Competing alongside teammates from the French national team, Mattoni helped execute a sequence of formations and manoeuvres in freefall that won over the judging panel. The discipline demands precision timing between four skydivers who must build and break formations at speed during a limited freefall window, with judges marking accuracy and difficulty.

The Monaco Parachute Team, based at the Principality's skydiving club, has produced competitors at international level in recent years, and Mattoni's gold adds to the club's growing reputation in the sport. For a country better known for its motorsport and sailing pedigree, the result marks a notable addition to Monaco's competitive sporting record.
