Monaco rail disruptions: planned works plus equipment failure
By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial
Planned track modernisation on Saturday 13 June is now compounded by an equipment failure that has halted services between Cagnes-sur-Mer and Monaco until Wednesday morning.
Rail services between Antibes and Monaco, Nice and Breil, and Cannes and Grasse are suspended throughout Saturday 13 June 2026, as SNCF carries out a major 27-hour programme of track modernisation on the Maralpin network. Around a hundred workers are involved in the operation, which requires a complete halt to train movements across the affected routes.
A separate equipment failure has further disrupted services between Cagnes-sur-Mer and Monaco. SNCF initially expected to restore this line by 18:30 on Tuesday 16 June, but has now confirmed that normal service will not resume until Wednesday morning, extending disruption for commuters along the Côte d'Azur.
Travellers planning to use rail services on Saturday or early the following week should arrange alternative transport by bus, taxi or car. Anyone travelling during this period is advised to check the latest SNCF updates before planning their journey.
