Monaco is set to assume the rotating Presidency of the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers, a first since joining the organisation in 2004.
A final steering committee meeting has taken place ahead of Monaco assuming the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, marking a significant diplomatic milestone for the Principality. Minister of State Christophe Mirmand and Government Councillor for External Relations and Cooperation Isabelle Berro-Amadeï co-chaired the session, bringing together all Monaco institutions involved in the handover preparations.
The meeting served to present the communication tools and materials that will be deployed once the Presidency formally begins. This will be the first time Monaco has held the role since its accession to the Council of Europe in 2004, placing the Principality at the head of an intergovernmental organisation with 46 member states and a mandate covering human rights, democracy and the rule of law.
For Monaco residents and the broader international community based in the Principality, the Presidency signals a period of heightened diplomatic activity and visibility on the European stage. Formal events, ministerial delegations and public communications linked to the Presidency are expected to follow in the coming weeks.
