Monaco has revealed the key priorities for its upcoming presidency of the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers, marking a significant milestone as the Principality prepares to take on this role for the first time in its history.
The announcement was made during a joint press conference on Thursday 9th April, alongside Secretary General Alain Berset. Monaco's presidency will run from 15th May to 10th November 2026, representing a six-month term at the helm of the Council of Europe's decision-making body.
This historic presidency represents an important moment for Monaco on the European stage, as the Principality prepares to guide the work of the 46-member organisation that champions human rights, democracy and the rule of law across Europe. The Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers serves as the organisation's decision-making body, bringing together the foreign ministers of all member states.
The specific details of Monaco's priorities and strategic focus for the presidency are expected to be outlined in greater detail as the start date approaches, offering the Principality a unique opportunity to shape European policy dialogue during its tenure.
