Monaco minister addresses Council of Europe gender equality forum

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Isabelle Berro-Amadeï represented Monaco at the Council of Europe's annual gender equality conference, a key event under the Principality's current presidency of the Committee of Ministers.

Government Councillor and Minister Isabelle Berro-Amadeï attended the annual conference of the Council of Europe's Gender Equality Commission on 15 June, one of the flagship gatherings held under Monaco's thematic priority of protecting women during its presidency of the Committee of Ministers.

The visit to Strasbourg also gave Berro-Amadeï the opportunity to address the Committee of Ministers in its Human Rights formation, where she reaffirmed Monaco's commitment to the enforcement of judgments handed down by the European Court of Human Rights.

Monaco assumed the rotating presidency of the Committee of Ministers earlier this year, and the Principality has placed the protection of women at the centre of its programme. Berro-Amadeï's appearances this week signal that Monaco intends to use its term to advance concrete commitments on gender equality at a pan-European level.
