Monaco has marked ten years since becoming one of the first states to sign Europe's Saint-Denis Convention on football and sporting event safety.
Monaco has marked the tenth anniversary of the Saint-Denis Convention, the European agreement setting standards for safety, security and spectator welfare at football matches and other major sporting events. The Principality was among the first three signatories when the treaty was established in 2016, alongside France.
To mark the milestone, European experts gathered to review progress made under the Convention since its adoption, examining how member states have applied its standards across stadiums and large-scale sporting venues. For Monaco, a country that regularly hosts international fixtures and events drawing large crowds, from AS Monaco matches at the Stade Louis II to the Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Convention's framework has shaped how local authorities coordinate crowd management and venue security with counterparts across Europe.
