Monaco joins US 250th independence celebrations

By Laurent Duval, MonacoViews Editorial

The Principality has signed a formal agreement with the bipartisan America250 Commission to take part in the United States' 250th anniversary commemorations.

A signing ceremony in Washington has confirmed Monaco's participation in the forthcoming 250th anniversary of American independence, with the Principality formally committing to the commemoration through an agreement with the America250 Congressional Commission.

The event was organised by Monaco's Ambassador to the United States alongside Rosie Rios, President of the America250 Commission, and brought together figures from diplomatic and public life. The occasion marks a further development in the long-standing relationship between Monaco and the US.

America250 is the bipartisan federal body charged with coordinating celebrations across 2026, and Monaco's involvement places the Principality among the international partners recognised in those commemorations. For a state that maintains active diplomatic ties with Washington and hosts a significant number of American residents and visitors, the gesture carries both symbolic and practical weight.
