Monaco issues heatwave alert as temperatures surge
By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial
The Monaco Government has declared a heatwave episode across the Principality, urging residents to limit prolonged sun exposure and take protective measures.
A heatwave has settled over the Principality, with the Monaco Government issuing a formal public health alert on Friday 19 June. Authorities are warning that sustained exposure to high temperatures carries serious risks, including dehydration, heatstroke and sudden illness.
Those most at risk include infants, young children, pregnant women, older residents and anyone living with a chronic health condition. Outdoor workers, athletes and anyone spending extended periods outside are also advised to take precautions, stay hydrated and seek shade or air-conditioned spaces during peak heat hours.
Residents are encouraged to check on elderly or vulnerable neighbours and to follow updates from Monaco's public health services as the episode continues.
