Monaco issues heat warning as summer temperatures rise

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

The Monaco Government is urging residents to take precautions during periods of intense heat, with infants, the elderly and those with chronic conditions at highest risk.

With summer temperatures climbing across the Principality, the government has issued a public health alert reminding residents and visitors of the risks associated with prolonged heat exposure. Dehydration and heatstroke are the primary concerns, and both can develop rapidly in Monaco's dense urban environment, where shade and cool air can be hard to find away from the seafront.

While vulnerable groups face the greatest danger - infants, young children, pregnant women, older residents and those managing chronic illness - the warning extends to anyone spending extended time outdoors. Athletes training on the Rocher or along the port, and workers on outdoor construction sites, are specifically called out as groups who should adjust routines and hydration habits during hot spells.

The government's advice centres on staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor exertion during peak afternoon heat, keeping living spaces cool, and checking on neighbours or relatives who live alone. Residents seeking guidance or assistance can contact Monaco's health services directly.
