Monaco in talks to keep defender Wout Faes permanently

The Belgian centre-back has impressed during his loan spell from Leicester City.

Belgian defender Wout Faes appears set to remain in the Principality after making a strong impression during his loan spell at AS Monaco. The centre-back joined from Leicester City in January on a temporary deal that includes a purchase option.

Faes has settled well into life on the Rock, with his performances convincing club officials that he represents a worthwhile long-term investment. Recent discussions between Monaco's management and the player's representatives suggest both parties are keen to make the arrangement permanent.

The 26-year-old's adaptation to French football has been seamless, providing the defensive stability that coach Adi Hütter was seeking when the club moved for him during the winter transfer window. His consistent displays have made him a regular fixture in Monaco's backline.

With Leicester unlikely to recall the defender, Monaco now faces a straightforward decision on whether to activate their option to secure Faes's services beyond the current campaign.
