Monaco hosts Council of Europe assembly during presidency term

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Around 60 parliamentarians from across Europe gathered in Monaco on Friday 22 May as the Standing Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe convened in the Principality. The meeting forms part of Monaco's six-month presidency of the Committee of Ministers, a significant diplomatic milestone for the Principality on the pan-European stage.

The gathering was preceded by a reception at the Prince's Palace, where His Serene Highness Prince Albert II received the visiting delegates. Hosting the Standing Committee here underlines Monaco's active role within the Council of Europe's institutional framework during this presidency period.

For residents and those with interests in the Principality, the visit represents a notable concentration of senior European political figures in Monaco, with the attendant security and ceremonial arrangements that accompany such gatherings at the Palace and across the centre of the Principality.
