Monaco Foundation in Paris Opens Doors After Three-Year Break
The Monaco Foundation at CIUP held its first public event since September 2021, featuring a presentation about the Via Alpina trail.
The Monaco Foundation at the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris welcomed the public back for the first time in over three years, marking a significant return to community engagement after an extended closure.
The event featured a presentation of a new publication documenting a summer 2025 journey along the Via Alpina, Europe's longest long-distance hiking trail. This remarkable 2,000-kilometre route spans eight countries, beginning in Italy and concluding in the Principality of Monaco.
Established through international cooperation on 21st June 2002, the Via Alpina represents a unique blend of sport, nature and culture across Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, France and Monaco. The trail showcases the diverse landscapes and heritage of the Alpine region whilst promoting sustainable tourism.
The Principality's role as the final destination of this extraordinary hiking route underscores Monaco's connection to the broader Alpine community and its commitment to promoting outdoor recreation and cultural exchange across European borders.
