Monaco firefighters first in world to adopt new F1 helmet

The Principality's sapeurs-pompiers have unveiled an advanced American-designed helmet featuring integrated audio, 360-degree lighting and a redesigned visor.
Monaco's Corps des Sapeurs-Pompiers has become the first fire service in the world to be equipped with the new so-called F1 helmet, developed by an American manufacturer. The unit unveiled the technology this week, with a full rollout planned until every serving firefighter in the Principality carries one on active duty.
The helmet represents a significant upgrade in operational capability for the Monegasque military firefighters. Key features include an integrated audio system for clearer communication during interventions, a 360-degree lighting arrangement that removes blind spots in low-visibility conditions, and a completely redesigned visor offering improved protection and sightlines.
For a fire service operating across one of the world's most densely built urban environments, from the high-rise towers of Fontvieille to the narrow lanes of La Condamine and the tunnels beneath Monte-Carlo, enhanced communication and visibility in the field carry obvious practical weight. The Corps des Sapeurs-Pompiers de Monaco handles both civilian emergencies and military duties within the Principality, making equipment reliability a matter of public as well as operational concern.
