Monaco E-Prix 2027 set for 15-16 May with GEN4 cars

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

The Principality will host two Formula E rounds on 15 and 16 May 2027, with the new GEN4 cars making their Monaco debut under a revised championship calendar.

The 12th and 13th Monaco E-Prix will take place on 15 and 16 May 2027, with Formula E confirming the Principality as a double-header venue in an expanded season calendar. It marks a structural change to the event format, with the weekend schedule revised alongside the wider changes Formula E is introducing for its upcoming season.

The headline attraction is the GEN4 car, Formula E's next-generation single-seater, which will run on the Monaco street circuit for the first time. The tight layout through Sainte-Dévote, the Casino hairpin and the tunnel section has always posed particular challenges for electric machinery, and the new car will face that test across two consecutive race days rather than the previous single-round format.

For residents and property owners near the circuit, the double-header structure means a longer operational footprint around the harbourfront and the Avenue d'Ostende area, though full details of road closures and access restrictions have yet to be confirmed. Dates in mid-May place the event close to the Formula 1 Grand Prix window, continuing Monaco's position as the most concentrated stretch of top-level motorsport on any city calendar.
