Monaco beat Gornik Zabrze 3-2 in Conference League first leg

AS Monaco head into the home leg at Stade Louis-II with a narrow advantage after a 3-2 win away to Polish side Gornik Zabrze on Thursday.
A trip to Zabrze produced the result Monaco needed, though not the comfort the coaching staff would have hoped for. Three goals secured a first-leg lead in the UEFA Conference League qualifier, but two conceded against a Polish side at their own ground will sharpen focus before the return fixture at Stade Louis-II.
The defensive frailties that have lingered into pre-season were visible again in Poland, and will be the main talking point ahead of the second leg. Monaco go into that match as favourites, but a two-goal cushion that could easily have been tighter is a reminder that the margin for error remains slim.
With new signings reportedly close, the timing of any arrivals before the return leg could prove significant. A home crowd at Louis-II, combined with fresh reinforcements, gives Monaco a solid platform to progress, though they will need a cleaner defensive display to do it with confidence.
