Monaco backs WHO reform at World Health Assembly

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Monaco's government minister addressed the 79th World Health Assembly in Geneva, calling for a more agile and effective World Health Organisation amid record global conflicts.

At the 79th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Monaco's Minister Robino took the floor during the general debate, themed "Redefining Global Health: A Shared Responsibility", to press the case for substantive reform of the World Health Organisation.

Speaking against a backdrop of an unprecedented number of active conflicts testing the foundations of the international order, Robino argued that the WHO must become more transparent, more agile and more effective in delivering for all populations. Monaco reaffirmed its commitment to a multilateral health architecture capable of responding to crises without institutional paralysis.

The Principality has long maintained an active presence at WHO forums, and its intervention this year signals continued engagement with the reform agenda that member states have been debating since the COVID-19 pandemic exposed structural weaknesses in global health governance.
