Monaco has taken over the rotating presidency of the Council of Ministers of the Council of Europe, with Minister Isabelle Berro-Amadeï representing the Principality at the session.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Isabelle Berro-Amadeï has taken Monaco to the chair of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, marking the Principality's assumption of the rotating presidency. The session covered a wide range of pressing continental issues, from democratic resilience across member states to the management of international migration and the growing threat of foreign interference and information manipulation.
A central point of the discussions was the proposed establishment of a special tribunal to prosecute the crime of aggression against Ukraine, a measure that has gained traction among Council of Europe member states. Berro-Amadeï used Monaco's platform to call on all member states to uphold the fundamental principles and shared values that bind the organisation together.
The Council of Europe, which counts 46 member states and is distinct from the European Union, rotates its Committee of Ministers presidency among its members. Monaco's turn at the chair places the Principality in a position of diplomatic visibility at a particularly consequential moment for European multilateral institutions.
