Monacair orders electric helicopters for 2029 fleet upgrade

Monacair has agreed a partnership with an American manufacturer to acquire electric helicopters, with deliveries expected by 2029.
Monacair, the Principality's helicopter transport operator, has signed a partnership with an American manufacturer to bring electric rotorcraft into its fleet. The deal is expected to see several electric helicopters enter service by 2029, a significant shift for a company whose Héliport de Monaco operation sits at the heart of one of Europe's busiest short-haul air corridors.
The move responds to three converging pressures: tightening environmental standards, persistent complaints from residents about noise along the Nice-Monaco flight path, and the commercial need to modernise an offer that competes with road and rail alternatives for high-end travellers. Electric helicopters produce considerably lower noise signatures than conventional turbine aircraft, which will matter particularly to those living near the Fontvieille heliport.
The 2029 timeline aligns with a broader wave of electric vertical take-off investment across southern France and the Riviera corridor, where operators are racing to meet anticipated regulatory requirements on emissions and acoustics. For Monaco residents and property owners near the heliport, quieter skies could be a material change to daily life well before the end of the decade.
