Métropole Shopping Monte-Carlo begins major night-time renovation

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

The Métropole Shopping Monte-Carlo centre is undergoing a full decor overhaul, with works running at night until early 2028.

The Métropole Shopping Monte-Carlo, the retail hub just off the Carré d'Or that draws some 3.1 million visitors a year, has begun a wide-ranging renovation of its interior decor. Management describes the project as a light touch-up designed to carry the centre through its next four decades, rather than a full rebuild.

To avoid disrupting trade, the bulk of the work is being carried out overnight and in the early hours, before shops open for the day. The approach means shoppers and tenants should notice little change to daily operations even as the centre's common areas are reworked section by section.

The full programme is expected to run until the first quarter of 2028, making it one of the longer-running commercial refurbishments currently under way in Monte-Carlo. For residents and regular visitors, it signals a gradual, rather than sudden, transformation of one of the Principality's busiest shopping destinations.
