Leclerc leads then fades to fourth in Mexico City

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Charles Leclerc held the lead early in Mexico before fading to fourth, while Hamilton's charge from pole fell short by under a second.

Charles Leclerc took the lead in the opening stages of the Mexican Grand Prix, giving Ferrari fans in Monaco reason for early optimism. The Monegasque driver, who grew up in La Condamine and remains closely tied to the Principality, could not hold the advantage and ultimately crossed the line in fourth place.

Lewis Hamilton started from pole position and pushed hard throughout the race, finishing less than a second away from the win. Despite flashes of pace from both Ferrari and Hamilton's side, the chequered flag brought frustration rather than celebration for the scarlet team.

For Monaco's motorsport followers, Leclerc's result adds another chapter to a season of near misses. The driver, often seen testing cars along the harbour and a fixture at local events, remains the Principality's most visible link to the sport beyond the Monaco Grand Prix itself.
