Laurent Herschbach takes helm at Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Laurent Herschbach, who spent nearly three decades in operational roles at the Ritz Paris, has been appointed director of the only independent palace hotel in the Principality.

Laurent Herschbach has taken over as director of the Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo, one of the Principality's most recognisable addresses just off the Casino Gardens. He arrives after almost thirty years at the Ritz Paris, where he worked through a range of operational positions before being entrusted with leading Monaco's sole independent palace hotel.

Herschbach has described wanting to deepen the hotel's relationship with its clientele, placing emphasis on the kind of personal, exclusive service that distinguishes a palace property from larger chain-run establishments. For regular guests and Monaco residents who use the Métropole's restaurants and spa, the change in leadership signals continuity of ambition rather than a shift in direction.

The Métropole's independent status sets it apart in a Monte-Carlo hospitality scene increasingly dominated by international groups, making the choice of director a closely watched decision within the Principality's hotel industry.
