Larvotto cross-country draws 520 runners to Monaco seafront

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

The 49th edition of the Cross du Larvotto brought 520 runners to Monaco's seafront on Sunday for one of the principality's established autumn athletic fixtures.

Under a hazy sky on Sunday, the Larvotto seafront became the stage for the 49th edition of the Cross du Larvotto, as 520 runners lined up for this established fixture on Monaco's athletic calendar. Organised by AS Monaco Athlétisme with support from the Monegasque Athletics Federation (FMA), the event featured seven races catering to different ages and abilities, with distances spanning from a short 1.2km loop to a more demanding 6.4km course along the promenade.

Runners described the conditions as tough but enjoyable, with the flat coastal route offering little shelter from the sea breeze but plenty of encouragement from spectators gathered along the barriers. The morning of competition brought together families and younger competitors alongside more serious athletes, giving the event the relaxed, community atmosphere that has become its trademark over nearly five decades.

The Cross du Larvotto has cemented its place on Monaco's sporting calendar, drawing competitors from across the principality and beyond for an autumn morning that combines sport with the unique character of the Monegasque coastline.
