Labour Day Holiday Observed in Monaco

The Principality marks Labour Day with a public holiday on 1st May.

Monaco observes Labour Day today, joining countries worldwide in commemorating workers' rights and contributions. The 1st May public holiday sees government offices, many businesses, and schools closed across the Principality.

The tradition of celebrating Labour Day stems from the international workers' movement of the late 19th century. In Monaco, as throughout much of Europe, this day provides an opportunity for residents to enjoy time with family and participate in community activities.

While essential services continue to operate, visitors to the Principality should expect reduced opening hours for shops, restaurants, and tourist attractions. Public transport maintains a modified schedule during the holiday period.
