A ceremony at Amazónico Monte-Carlo on 14 May marked 100 days until La Vuelta 2026 rolls out of the Principality on 22 August.
Cycling's La Vuelta a España will begin from Monaco on 22 August 2026, and the Principality marked the 100-day milestone with a ceremony at Amazónico Monte-Carlo on 14 May. Sporting officials, local personalities and cycling representatives gathered for the occasion, underlining how seriously Monaco is treating its role as Grand Départ host for one of the three Grand Tours.
It is a significant moment for the Principality's sporting calendar. Monaco has hosted Formula 1 for decades and provided a backdrop for world-class tennis, but a Grand Départ of La Vuelta brings a different kind of spectacle - closing roads, crowds lining the streets and a global television audience focused on the harbour and hillsides before the peloton heads south into Spain. Residents and visitors should expect considerable route and access planning to be announced in the weeks ahead as the August date approaches.
