New pedestrian bridge extension opens at Monaco's entrance

By Laurent Duval, MonacoViews Editorial

The extended Wurtemberg footbridge welcomes walkers, creating a seamless pedestrian route from Salines car park to Fontvieille.

Pedestrians can now enjoy improved access into Monaco following the opening of the extended Wurtemberg footbridge on 23rd April. The new section adds 35 metres to the existing structure, creating a vital link in the Principality's growing pedestrian network.

The extension, constructed in three separate sections during May 2025, forms part of an ambitious walking route that connects the Salines car park directly to the Fontvieille district. This strategic pathway represents a key element in the government's broader transportation strategy.

The project reflects Monaco's commitment to reducing traffic congestion within its borders by encouraging pedestrian movement. By providing safe, convenient walking routes between major districts and transport hubs, authorities aim to ease the flow of vehicles through the Principality's famously narrow streets.
