Israeli Ambassador Strengthens Ties with Côte d'Azur Leaders During Three-Day Regional Visit

Joshua Zarka met with Nice's new mayor and other regional officials, highlighting strong local support while addressing rising antisemitism concerns.

Israeli Ambassador Joshua Zarka has completed a three-day diplomatic mission across the Côte d'Azur and Monaco, focusing on strengthening relationships with regional leaders. The visit included a key meeting with Nice's newly elected mayor, Éric Ciotti, as part of efforts to consolidate diplomatic ties in the area.

During his tour, Zarka emphasised the particularly robust support Israel receives from authorities throughout the region. The ambassador used the opportunity to reinforce existing partnerships while building new connections with local officials.

The diplomatic visit comes at a time when Zarka has expressed growing concern about the rise of antisemitism across France and Europe. The ambassador has pointed to what he describes as a shift in the sources of antisemitic sentiment, identifying far-left movements as an emerging threat in the current political landscape.
