The third day of Jean-Charles Mulini's attempted murder trial heard psychiatric evidence as the accused struggled to explain 34 stab wounds inflicted on his former partner.
The third day of Jean-Charles Mulini's attempted murder trial at the Palais de Justice brought the most testing exchanges yet, as the accused attempted to account for the morning he stabbed his then-partner 34 times. Mulini spoke of "black holes" in his memory and described hearing inner voices, but his explanations left the court largely unsatisfied.
Psychological and psychiatric experts took the stand to analyse a personality they described as complex, offering assessments that the prosecution and defence will each draw on when making their closing arguments. The testimony added clinical weight to a case that has gripped the Principality since the assault came to light.
A verdict is expected on Friday evening. The outcome will be one of the most significant criminal judgements handed down in Monaco in recent years.
