International Hydrographic Organisation holds major assembly in Monaco

The Principality hosts the triennial gathering of the world's maritime mapping authority at the Auditorium Rainier III.

The Auditorium Rainier III is welcoming delegates from around the globe for the fourth General Assembly of the International Hydrographic Organisation, reinforcing Monaco's role as a hub for international maritime cooperation.

Established in 1921, this intergovernmental body plays a crucial role in ensuring uniform hydrographic surveying and nautical charting across all navigable waters worldwide. The organisation's work extends far beyond simple mapping, addressing complex environmental, economic and security challenges that affect global maritime operations.

The assembly, which convenes every three years in Monaco where the organisation maintains its headquarters, brings together member states to coordinate standards and share vital oceanographic data. This gathering underscores the Principality's longstanding commitment to marine science and international collaboration in maritime affairs.
