Interpol chief visits Monaco and praises security role
By Laurent Duval, MonacoViews Editorial
The Interpol president visited the Principality to highlight Monaco's contribution to international police cooperation and its deep historical ties to the organisation.
Interpol president Lucas Philippe made an official visit to Monaco this week, using an interview with Monaco Info to underline the Principality's growing importance in global security networks. Philippe pointed to the rising complexity of cross-border crime and the increasing demands placed on member states to coordinate responses at pace.
Philippe also reached back into history, recalling that Prince Albert I was a pioneering figure in the early development of international police cooperation, a legacy that he suggested gives Monaco a particular credibility within the organisation today. The visit signals continued engagement between the Principality and Interpol at a senior level, reinforcing Monaco's position as an active participant in international law enforcement rather than a passive member state.
