IAM Opens Archive Exhibition on the 1956 Royal Wedding

The Institut Audiovisuel de Monaco is staging a summer exhibition this year drawing on its archives to revisit the 1956 marriage of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly.
Seventy years on from one of the most photographed events of the twentieth century, the Institut Audiovisuel de Monaco (IAM) is marking the occasion with a cabinet de curiosités dedicated to the union of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly. The summer exhibition draws on the IAM's own holdings to illustrate the extraordinary media frenzy that surrounded the April 1956 ceremony, when film crews and press photographers descended on the Principality in numbers the Rock had never previously seen.
The display is designed to give visitors a sense of just how large the wedding loomed in the global imagination at the time, from newsreel footage to press photography and broadcast recordings that passed through Monegasque archives.
