Hospitality minimum wage rises in Monaco from 1 November

New minimum hourly rates for Monaco's hotel, café and restaurant staff take effect from Sunday under a fresh government circular.
A revised wage scale for Monaco's hospitality sector comes into force this Sunday, affecting thousands of staff working in hotels, cafés and restaurants across the Principality. The updated minimum hourly rates were set out in Circular No. 2026-13, published in the Journal de Monaco on Friday 30 October, giving employers and employees barely 48 hours' notice before the changes took hold.
The circular applies to the full range of establishments covered by Monaco's hospitality collective agreements, from the grand hotels along the Larvotto seafront to the smaller cafés tucked into Monaco-Ville and Condamine. For many workers, particularly those on entry-level or seasonal contracts, the uplift represents the first adjustment to their base pay in some time, arriving just as the sector heads into the quieter winter months before the spring calendar of events picks up again.
For employers, the new rates mean recalculating payroll figures and contracts with immediate effect, a task complicated by the short turnaround between publication and implementation. Industry bodies representing restaurateurs and hoteliers are expected to issue guidance to members in the coming days to ensure compliance with the updated scale, which forms part of the broader framework governing pay and conditions in one of Monaco's largest employment sectors.
