Heritage Under Threat Photo Exhibition Opens at Saint-Martin Gardens
A new photography exhibition exploring endangered cultural heritage opens at the Saint-Martin Gardens, running until October 2026.
A thought-provoking photography exhibition has opened on the railings of Saint-Martin Gardens at the Rock, examining the various threats facing our cultural legacy both locally and globally.
The display, organised by the Cultural Affairs Department, explores how climate change, natural disasters, and societal shifts are putting both tangible and intangible heritage at risk. Visitors can explore images showcasing endangered art objects, architectural treasures, written works, constructed landscapes, gardens, and archaeological sites.
The exhibition also highlights threats to intangible cultural elements including traditional crafts, performing arts, local customs, festive celebrations, and culinary traditions. Mass tourism and rapid urbanisation feature as key challenges facing heritage preservation efforts.
The outdoor exhibition remains accessible to the public through October 2026, offering residents and visitors alike a chance to reflect on preservation challenges facing cultural heritage worldwide.
