Grimaldi Forum opens Jacques Tati tribute season

The Monaco Audiovisual Institute has opened its 23rd Art of Cinema season with a tribute to Jacques Tati, screening Playtime at the Grimaldi Forum.
The Monaco Audiovisual Institute has launched the 23rd edition of The Art of Cinema, dedicating this season's programme to French filmmaker Jacques Tati. The opening screening took place at the Grimaldi Forum, where Institute director Vincent Vatrican introduced Tati's 1967 film Playtime, calling it an absolute masterpiece.
Playtime remains one of the most technically ambitious films of its era, built around Tati's signature vision of modern urban life and famous for its vast, purpose-built studio sets. Its inclusion sets the tone for a season that will trace Tati's influence across decades of visual comedy and design-conscious filmmaking.
For Monaco residents with an interest in cinema, the Grimaldi Forum's programme offers a rare chance to see restored prints of Tati's work on a big screen, in a season that runs across the coming months. Further screenings and details are expected to be announced through the Institute as the retrospective continues.
