Golovin to stay at AS Monaco after transfer speculation

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Midfielder Aleksandr Golovin, linked with a return to Russia, will remain at AS Monaco after the club's summer transfer window closed.

Aleksandr Golovin, who joined AS Monaco in 2018, will not be leaving the Principality club despite speculation throughout the summer that suggested otherwise. The Russian international had been linked with interest from clubs in his home country as the window drew to a close, with his future appearing uncertain in the wake of departures elsewhere in the squad.

The exits of Folarin Balogun and Lamine Camara had fuelled talk that further squad changes were coming, with Golovin mentioned as a possible departure. Instead, the midfielder stays at Stade Louis II, at least for the time being, giving manager Adi Hütter a familiar and experienced option in the centre of the pitch as Monaco push deeper into the 2026-27 season.
