The exhibition traces Braun's artistic journey back to his student days, when he travelled to India's historic textile capital 25 years ago. There, he encountered Le Corbusier's groundbreaking modernist architecture, particularly the environmentally conscious Villa Sarabhai designed in the 1950s for the prominent Sarabhai family.
The villa itself represents a fascinating cultural crossroads, where Swiss-French architectural innovation met Indian patronage and sensibility. Commissioned by Manorama Sarabhai, wife of industrialist Suhrid Ambalal Sarabhai, the building became a repository of contemporary art and progressive design thinking.
Braun's photographic interpretation offers visitors a unique perspective on how Le Corbusier's architectural vision translated into the Indian context, creating a dialogue between European modernist principles and local environmental considerations.
