French woman receives suspended sentence for threatening Monaco police officers

A 30-year-old from Roquebrune-Cap-Martin was given six months suspended prison term for resisting arrest and threatening officers.

A woman in her thirties from neighbouring Roquebrune-Cap-Martin has been handed a six-month suspended prison sentence by Monaco's courts for serious offences against local police officers.

The defendant was found guilty of resisting arrest, insulting behaviour, and making death threats towards officers from Monaco's Public Security force during what appears to have been a difficult arrest situation.

Central to the court proceedings was the question of the woman's mental state at the time of the incident. Her defence highlighted that she was suffering from severe post-traumatic stress disorder, which they argued had significantly impaired her judgement during the confrontation with police.

The case underscores the challenges law enforcement faces when dealing with individuals experiencing mental health crises, whilst also reinforcing that threats against officers carry serious legal consequences in the Principality.
