France's National Olympic and Sports Committee has delivered what amounts to a death sentence for AS Monaco Basket, endorsing the French Basketball Federation's decision to bar the club from competing in Nationale 1, the country's third division, despite Monaco having won the French championship. The CNOSF ruling aligns fully with the FFBB's original position, stripping the club of any meaningful avenue for appeal through sporting governance bodies.
In response, the club has appealed directly to the FFBB president for a personal intervention, a move that reflects both the desperation of the situation and the absence of any other formal route. The request amounts to a plea for clemency rather than a legal remedy.
For Monaco residents and the Principality's sporting community, the stakes are significant.
