French Ambassador d'Haussonville to leave Monaco post

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Jean d'Haussonville, France's ambassador to Monaco since 2023, announced his departure at the Bastille Day reception held at the Yacht Club de Monaco on 14 July.

Jean d'Haussonville used the French national day celebrations on Tuesday evening to announce that he will be stepping down as France's ambassador to the Principality. In post since 2023, he made the announcement to guests gathered at the Yacht Club de Monaco for the traditional Bastille Day reception hosted by the French embassy.

D'Haussonville also touched on an upcoming diplomatic milestone, signalling that the President of the Italian Republic is expected to visit Monaco in the coming period. No further details on the timing or purpose of that visit were confirmed at the reception.

The French ambassador to Monaco is a significant diplomatic figure in the Principality, given the close constitutional and economic ties between the two countries. His successor has not yet been named.
