Formula E returns to Monaco with charity and diversity push

The Formula E championship is back on Monaco's streets this weekend, bringing with it a programme that extends well beyond the racing itself. Now in its twelfth year, the series has used its return to the Principality to highlight two causes it has been building quietly in the background: charitable giving and the push to bring more women into motorsport at every level.
On the charitable side, Formula E has declared its support for the Fondation Princesse Charlène de Monaco, the Princess's water-safety and youth-focused organisation. The partnership puts one of the weekend's highest-profile platforms behind a cause that resonates directly with the Principality's own institutions.
The series is also pressing its case for greater gender diversity within the discipline itself. Formula E has positioned itself as the open-wheel category most willing to act on this, pointing to ongoing efforts to identify and develop female talent from junior categories upward. Whether that translates into a female driver on the Monaco grid in the near term remains to be seen, but the direction of travel is clear.
For residents near the circuit, the familiar disruption to routes around the Port Hercule area and Boulevard Albert 1er applies through the weekend. Racing action gets under way on Saturday.
