Fontvieille's Boinier carousel turns for the last time after 40 years

The Boinier family carousel, a fixture in Fontvieille for four decades, closes permanently on Sunday 28 June 2026.
After 40 years in Fontvieille, the carousel run by the Boinier family will stop turning for good this Sunday, 28 June 2026. The ride has been a constant presence in the district since the mid-1980s, entertaining successive generations of Monaco families and visitors alike.
Few fixtures in the Principality carry quite the same neighbourhood weight as a carousel that has outlasted multiple redevelopments of the area around it. For many Monaco residents, the Boinier carousel was simply part of the fabric of Fontvieille, as familiar as the port or the industrial quarter's converted spaces nearby.
No announcement has been made regarding what will replace it, or whether the site will see a new attraction. Those wanting to mark the occasion have until Sunday evening to take a final turn.
