Fontvieille escalators reopen with energy-efficient upgrades
The mechanical stairs at Léo Ferré square and Jardin Animalier are back in operation with improved technology and reduced energy consumption.
The mechanical escalators serving Léo Ferré square and Jardin Animalier in Fontvieille have returned to service following a comprehensive upgrade programme.
The replacement installations consume significantly less energy than their predecessors whilst incorporating several technical enhancements designed to improve reliability. A key innovation allows the escalators to restart automatically if emergency stops are triggered accidentally, reducing service disruptions for users.
Maintenance operations have been simplified through the new design, requiring fewer technical interventions and shorter periods when the escalators are out of service. The upgraded systems also feature dynamic LED lighting that adapts to usage patterns.
These improvements reflect Monaco's ongoing commitment to modernising public infrastructure whilst prioritising energy efficiency and user convenience across the Principality.
