Fallen plane tree closes road near Place d'Armes

A large plane tree came down near Place d'Armes on Wednesday afternoon, causing minor vehicle damage but no injuries.
A plane tree collapsed onto the carriageway close to Place d'Armes on Wednesday 1 July at around 5pm, brought down by strong wind gusts. The fall caused minor damage to at least one parked vehicle, but no injuries were reported despite the location being one of the busiest thoroughfares in the Principality at that hour.
Firefighters and agents from the Direction de l'Aménagement Urbain moved quickly to clear the debris from the road. The area around Place d'Armes serves as a key junction between La Condamine and the port district, and disruption to traffic was expected while clearance work continued into the evening.
