Public Holiday Marks Labour Day in Monaco

Monaco observes Labour Day with a public holiday, following the traditional May Day celebrations across Europe.

The Principality joins much of Europe in marking Labour Day today, with government offices, banks and many businesses closed for the public holiday.

May Day has been recognised as a workers' holiday across Europe since the late 19th century, celebrating the contributions of the labour movement and working people. In Monaco, the holiday provides residents and workers with a well-deserved break during the spring season.

While essential services continue to operate, visitors should expect reduced opening hours at shops, restaurants and tourist attractions throughout the Principality. The holiday falls during Monaco's busy spring calendar, nestled between Easter celebrations and the approaching Grand Prix season.
