A large explosion tore through the ground-floor entrance hall of a residential building in Monaco on Monday 29 June at approximately 21:15, leaving three people with serious injuries. Authorities are treating the incident as a likely attack, with a Ukrainian oligarch understood to be among those critically hurt.
Emergency services attended the scene rapidly, and the affected building was secured by police. The Principality's small geography and dense residential fabric mean incidents of this nature affect surrounding streets and residents immediately, and security cordons were put in place as investigators began work.
The investigation is ongoing. Residents in the vicinity are advised to follow guidance from the Direction de la Sûreté Publique and to avoid the immediate area while forensic and security work continues.
