Environmental photography prize showcased at Rome exhibition

By Megan Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

The Prince Albert II Foundation's Environmental Photography Prize exhibition was displayed in Rome under the patronage of Monaco's ambassador, highlighting five editions of award-winning work and the foundation's two decades of conservation impact.

The Prince Albert II Foundation of Monaco has announced the winners of its Environmental Photography Prize 2026, with British-German photographer Britta Jaschinski claiming the top honour. Jaschinski's winning entry stands out for its striking combination of forensic science and wildlife conservation messaging, with a powerful image that tackles illegal wildlife trafficking and highlights one of the most pressing environmental crimes of our time.

The annual photography competition seeks to raise awareness about urgent ecological challenges through compelling visual narratives. By recognising work that bridges scientific methodology with conservation advocacy, the prize continues to spotlight innovative approaches to environmental storytelling.

The prize has now expanded its reach beyond Monaco, with an exhibition of winning photographs from the first five editions recently displayed in Rome under the patronage of Monaco's ambassador to Italy. The showcase provided an opportunity to present the award-winning work to diplomatic figures and highlight the Foundation's two decades of global engagement in conservation awareness and concrete environmental solutions.
