easyJet founder marries in Monaco at Lagerfeld's former villa

By Steven T. Jackson OBE, MonacoViews Editorial

Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou married his long-term partner Orla Murphy in Monaco, with the reception held at Villa La Vigie, Karl Lagerfeld's former home.

Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, the founder of easyJet, married his long-term partner, the Irish businesswoman Orla Murphy, in a private civil ceremony in Monaco in early October. The couple kept the event deliberately low-key, with guests informed only days in advance.

The reception that followed took place at Villa La Vigie, the residence once owned by designer Karl Lagerfeld before his death in 2019. The property, known for its position overlooking the Mediterranean, has remained one of the most talked-about addresses in the Principality since Lagerfeld's tenure there.

Haji-Ioannou has had ties to Monaco for years through his business interests and residency status, though he has largely stayed out of the local social spotlight. The choice of Villa La Vigie for the celebration has drawn attention from residents familiar with the villa's history and its connection to one of fashion's most recognisable names.
