A serious road collision on Boulevard du Larvotto on Thursday morning has left one man hospitalised after a drunk driver cut across his path, causing him to come off his scooter. The driver was taken into custody at the Sûreté Publique following the incident.

The injured rider sustained an open fracture to his leg and was transported to the Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace (CHPG) for treatment. His condition at the time of writing was not confirmed, though the nature of the injury points to a significant impact.

The stretch of Boulevard du Larvotto is a busy coastal route used by both residents and visitors, particularly during the summer months. Residents are reminded that drink-driving enforcement in the Principality is strict, with roadside checks carried out regularly by Monaco's police.
