German international centre Daniel Theis has ended his spell at the Roca Team, with a transfer to EuroLeague rivals ASVEL Villeurbanne now advancing.
Daniel Theis, the 33-year-old German international, has formally departed the Roca Team after a spell that began in early 2025 following his return from the NBA. His exit opens the door to a move to ASVEL Villeurbanne, the Lyon-based club that competes alongside Monaco in the EuroLeague.
Theis joined the Principality's side as an experienced presence in the frontcourt, bringing NBA pedigree to Salle Gaston Médecin at a point when the Roca Team were pushing hard in both domestic and European competition. His departure ahead of the 2026-27 EuroLeague season signals a reshuffle in Monaco's roster as the club looks to shape its squad for the campaign ahead.
ASVEL, owned by LeBron James and based in the Lyon metropolitan area, represents a lateral move within French basketball's elite tier. For Roca Team supporters, the priority now shifts to how sporting director Oleksiy Yefimov and the coaching staff respond in the transfer market before pre-season begins.
