Council of Europe chief meets Monaco secondary school students ahead of presidency
Secretary General Alain Berset visited local sixth-formers as the Principality prepares to chair the Committee of Ministers.
Secretary General Alain Berset paid a visit to Monaco's secondary school students this Thursday morning, addressing pupils at the Charles III college auditorium as part of preparations for the Principality's upcoming presidency of the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers.
The educational visit saw Interior Minister Lionel Beffre and Ambassador Gabriel Revel, Monaco's permanent representative to the Council of Europe, join the discussion with local sixth-formers.
The engagement reflects Monaco's commitment to involving young citizens in European affairs as the Principality readies itself to take on the rotating presidency role. The Committee of Ministers serves as the Council of Europe's decision-making body, comprising foreign ministers from all 46 member states.
This outreach to Monaco's student community demonstrates how the upcoming presidency is being used as an opportunity to strengthen civic education and European awareness among the next generation.
