More than 70 Monegasque middle school pupils took part in the Princess Charlene Foundation's annual Water Safety Day at Larvotto Beach ahead of the summer season.
Larvotto Beach hosted the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation's annual Water Safety Day on Wednesday, with more than 70 middle school students from the Principality taking part in hands-on lifesaving training before the busiest months of the year on the waterfront.
The session was organised in partnership with the Monaco Aquatic Rescue and Diving Centre and the Monegasque Red Cross, bringing together specialist instructors to walk pupils through drowning prevention, water rescue techniques and basic emergency response. For students who spend summers metres from the Mediterranean, the skills taught are immediately practical.
Water safety has been a central pillar of the Princess Charlene Foundation since its founding, driven by the Princess's own background as a competitive swimmer and her commitment to reducing drowning deaths worldwide. The Larvotto event has become a fixture in the school calendar, giving each new cohort of young Monegasques direct exposure to the risks of open water before the summer crowds arrive.
